Once Upon Today Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Once Upon Today iOS app, the web app used inside the iOS app, and the support and marketing pages that link to this policy.

Once Upon Today is designed for use by a parent, guardian, or other adult caregiver. Children should use Once Upon Today only with that adult's involvement.

2. Information we collect

Account and device information

The app may create an account or device installation record so stories, profiles, entitlements, and saved library data can be connected to the correct family installation. This may include identifiers, app version, device information, entitlement state, and last-seen timestamps.

Child profile information

Parents can create child profiles. A profile may include a name or nickname, age or language guidance, avatar choices, story preferences, and related settings.

Story ingredients and generated content

When a parent creates a story, we may collect notes, selected themes, participants, story length, uploaded photos, generated titles, summaries, transcripts, cover images, narrated audio, feedback, and saved library history.

Subscriptions and purchases

Once Upon Today uses Apple StoreKit and RevenueCat for iOS purchases and subscriptions. Apple handles payment information. We and RevenueCat may receive and store subscription-related records such as product IDs, transaction IDs, subscription status, environment, purchase and expiration dates, refunds, and entitlement state.

Advertising attribution and analytics

We and our attribution or analytics partners may collect limited identifiers, device information, app interaction, attribution details, and subscription events to understand whether our own ads lead to app installs, trials, or subscriptions. iOS tracking permission controls whether the app can access the advertising identifier. These partners may include Meta, Singular, RevenueCat, and PostHog.

Support communications

If you email support, we collect the email address and any information you choose to send, such as screenshots, device details, story titles, or descriptions of an issue.

3. Photos and child images

Photos are optional story ingredients. A parent may add pictures from the day so the story can use concrete details. Parents should avoid uploading sensitive images, private documents, or images that include people when they are not needed for the story.

The iOS app asks for camera or photo library access only when the parent chooses to take or select a photo. Photos and generated media are used to provide the requested features, operate saved stories, troubleshoot issues, and support safety or abuse prevention.

4. How we use information

• Provide the app, including child profiles, story creation, cover images, transcripts, narration, playback, feedback, and saved libraries.
• Personalize stories to the selected child profile, themes, participants, story length, and recent family context.
• Process subscriptions, restore purchases, and enforce paid entitlements.
• Measure advertising attribution and subscription performance, including with limited identifiers when permitted.
• Moderate child-facing content and block inappropriate or high-risk requests.
• Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, excessive usage, fraud, and security incidents.
• Operate, debug, secure, and improve Once Upon Today.
• Respond to support requests and legal obligations.

5. AI processing

Once Upon Today may use AI service providers, including OpenAI, to transform story ingredients into titles, story text, summaries, cover prompts, images, and narrated audio. We send only the information needed for the requested feature, such as notes, selected profile details, photos, themes, participants, and relevant story context.

6. When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the app and measure our own advertising, including with hosting, database, storage, worker, email, analytics, attribution, subscription, and AI providers. Apple processes App Store purchases and subscription management.

We may also disclose information if required by law or if needed to protect users, children, Once Upon Today, or others from harm, fraud, abuse, or security threats.

7. Children's privacy

Once Upon Today is built for parents and caregivers, not for children to create public accounts or communicate with other users. The parent controls child profiles, story ingredients, saved stories, and deletion choices.

8. Retention and deletion

Saved stories remain available until deleted by the parent, removed with a child profile, removed with account deletion, or cleared under an applicable retention policy. Some records may be retained where needed for subscriptions, refunds, fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, backup integrity, or App Store compliance.

9. Your choices and rights

• You can manage camera and photo library permissions in iOS Settings.
• You can manage tracking permission in iOS Settings.
• You can delete stories, child profiles, or family data in the app where the controls are available.
• You can manage subscriptions through your Apple ID and App Store settings.
• You can contact support to request access, correction, deletion, export, or restriction of certain personal information.
